This time, I will compare both groups. And don’t worry, I’m not antifan, so I will judge fairly.
I’m a big fan of SHINee, and was a big fan of Super Junior. In fact, SJ brought me to KPOP, when I wasn’t interested at all about Korea about 4 years ago. Okay, maybe some f you will questioning that “was” word. I still love SJ no matter how, but I love SHINee more. But don’t worry about my judge here, because I will not be one sided.
SJ : Contains of 13 people with 2 other people in sub group. Let’s count them 15. Main vocalist, rapper, dancer, etc… Such a very big group, and Leeteuk as the leader, evidently, always trying very hard to unite all of them, which is NOT an easy thing to do. Let’s looking back to the past. When Kyuhyun joined the group, not all the people accepted him easily. But the leader convinced them about Kyuhyun. The same thing belongs to Henry and Zhoumi. I still remember when fans refused them, they must be hurted. And then Kiibum suddenly never come back. Don’t forget about how they were still practicing for Heechul’s part even though Heechul didn’t intend to join. How Sungmin always take the other’s part in singing whenever they’re not performing together, Kangin’s problem, Hangeng withdrew, and however, SJ still performing even though their leader isn’t there. They are more like a very big family, with mom, dad, sons, cousin, uncle, etc for me.. :p
SHINee : Contains of 5 people, with their each other part. Let’s say Onew as the second leader in voice, Jonghyun as the main leader, Key as rapper and second dancer, Minho as main rapper, and Taemin as main dancer. Somehow I see them completing each other. We can see they were like depending each other to cooperate, and it will be weird for me whenever I see someone missing ad he other tried to cover his part. Let’s say when Jonghyun broke his nose and didn’t appear in WSS MV, it’s ust… weird. I don’t really like it. They are like brothers for me. No mom, dad, or whatsoever. Just 5 brothers.
SJ : I HAVE to admit, that as far as I became their fans, not all the songs they sing I liked. It’s true! Maybe from their very very first abum until now, I can say I only like 50%-75% songs. Sorry for saying this. But what I see about SJ, their company ALWAYS preparing a BIG HIT for their comeback song, like Sorrysorry, Bonamana, Mr.Simple, SFS, etc… The songs were VERY VERY WELL PREPARED for them. SM didn’t hesitate to engage the best, famous song writer. But when it comes to the whole songs in album, errr…I’m not sure. I just don’t like some of them. And this is NOT a thought since I love SHINee, but from THE FIRST TIME I loved them. I found myself forced my personal to like it.
SHINee : Inversely from SJ, SHINee’s comeback songs for me always… weird. Hahahaaa!! But I love it. Not all of them, I don’t like Dazzling Girl, actualy. Seriously, RING DING DONG when they say, “we wanna rocka rocka rocka… ling ding dong, digiding ding ding ding~”. XDD
Not as cool as SJ for their comeback songs, but I still love it even though they’re sounds weird. Because somehow, no matter how weird it is, it’s still catchy. But, when we talk bout the whole songs in albums, I can say I love about 90%-95% songs they sing. What sad is, SM often gave them cover songs. So many! And it caused so many people said they did plagiarize. Anyway, seriously, their songs are very good, sometimes funny too. LOL
SJ : Eunhyuk as main dancer, followed by Shindong, Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Donghae, and Leeteuk. The rest members (FOR ME) are lacking in dance. If you see closely, Kangin sometimes made mistake in MV, and no wonder he always put behind in dance (except when it’s his part). Some of the member used to say Kangin can’t dance very well, and he’s not easy to learn. Yesung isn’t really good as well. Seriously, octopus dance? LOL~ Even though Yesung really wants to appear, but he got the chance so rarely. For me, Yesung is better to sing while smirking. That’s how he appears cool. The same things belongs to the rest member.
SHINee : Having Taemin, the hyperactive boy in group as main dancer is a plus or them. And Key is following behind him. Overall, I don’t think Onew, Jonghyun, and Minho are good at dancing. BUT, something like “miracle” happens when they perform on stage. Their cool dancing moves looked so hard but after all, all manage to do that. It makes me go “wooow…”. Lucifer, Dream Girl, Sherlock, Breaking News are hard for me, but they all managed to perform. So, I think they deserve to get that “best performance” award. :)
